It seems that there are news of this American band again, after some time without any. In fact, this "Island of the Misfit Toys", an album that actually is the second part of a trilogy, was released more than 4 years ago. After surfing their official website, it seems the new album might be ready soon. I suppose, it'll be the third part of the trilogy.

It's a shame that these guys are taking so much to record new material, because Timothy Pure is a band to take into account. Especially, the Porcupine Tree or Pink Floyd fans, that are not few, I think should give this band an opportunity as soon as possible.

Timothy Pure plays, at least in this album, the only one I could have listened of the group up to date, a music close to Porcupine Tree. A sort of pinkfloydish prog, with space atmospheres, no structural complications, some Gothic rock touch, and some references to other bands like Eloy, Moody Blues, Anathema or Marillion.

It is a pleasure, as also happens with the music from Porcupine Tree or Pink Floyd, to dive in those clean and distant keyboard atmospheres, that Timothy Pure are able to create, and that are the basic ingredient in the recipe of the band's sound. The tracks where the band offers their most space-prog vein are fascinating. I refer specially to "Misha Superhero", "Island Of The Misfit Toys", and the instrumental "Channels", which I have no doubt will like to fans of recent year's prog. Among the rest of the pieces, also more direct and melodic songs can be found, with a very good composition level, always under the enigmatic and dense vein that the symph-goth-space keyboards are capable of create.

Finishing. Their previous album "Blood of the Berry", the first one of the trilogy, was even more acclaimed by the critique than this one. Maybe someday I'll find it.

Rating: 7.5/10
