This acclaimed Spanish band Atila was rooted in ’73, five years later they call it a day. To everyone’s surprise Atila reformed in ’99 and they even did a reunion-concert featuring their best work. Although the sound of Atila has echoes from late Sixties bands like Vanilla Fudge, The Nice and Cream, in general ... it’s Atila progrock!
The remastered second album “Intencion” (considered as their best) and a concert from ’99 are put on 1-CD entitled Atila: Intencion + Reviuvre. It’s a treat for the ‘vintage-keyboards-aficinados’ (Hammond, Moog, Mellotron) with some mindblowing moments delivering swirling organ and fat Moog runs. But the guitarwork is also worth listening, a bit harder-edged but very inventive, at some moments with a Spanish flavour. The songs from the live-concert (’99) are more original and belong to the best Spanish progrock ever made: intense, compelling and exciting climates and shifting moods with lots of great solos. At some moments tt reminds me of the Italian Seventies progrock band Il Balletto Di Bronzo but less complex and theatrical. Check out Atila if you want to discover the unique Spanish progrock!
